Pharmacometrics uses mathematical models to describe and predict how a drug is absorbed, distributed and eliminated. At PKBio, this line connects the data produced by the other lines to practical questions: which dose leads to the desired exposure? How does a change in formulation or population alter plasma concentrations?
What we do
- PBPK models: represent organs, blood flows, transport and metabolism, allowing extrapolation across species, age groups and clinical conditions.
- PopPK: describes between-subject variability and identifies factors, such as body weight or organ function, that explain differences in exposure.
- PBBM: links solubility and dissolution data to absorption, supporting formulation development.
- In silico prediction: estimation of physicochemical properties that feed the models when experimental data are not yet available.
Why it matters
Well-grounded models reduce unnecessary experiments, guide study design and help translate laboratory results to the clinic — including veterinary medicine.
